Forever and Always
Quatre Winner looked into the pink room of his five-year-old daughter and smiled; Barbies and dolls were strewn around the room as well as tea sets and dress up clothes. He stared at her sleeping form under the pink heart comforter she had gotten for Christmas last year. Her little hands were circled around a teddy bear that she always slept with and the happy smile on her face told him she was having a good dream…probably about pink bunnies and white unicorns.
But then his smile turned into a frown…Tomorrow would be the day that she and Crys would have to leave to another dimension for ten long years…he walked in and lightly kissed her cheek then pulled the covers over her shoulders…He didn’t show it on the outside, but on the inside he was dying; there would be no happy Christmases, birthdays, or anniversaries for ten long years…He held a hand to his heart which was slowly breaking into tiny little pieces. Tonight would have to be special for the both of them, for tomorrow he wouldn’t see Crys’s sleeping form beside him, nor see his beautiful daughter happily skipping down to breakfast…
“Quatre?” He turned and smiled at his wife, Crys as she walked into the room silently. Her face showed concern and regret at what she had to do in order for the angel cycle to move on. “I–I–”
He took her hand and stared lovingly into her deep blue eyes. “It’s alright, Crys. You don’t have to say anything.”
“No I want to say this Quatre.” She replied in a whisper.
“Alright, but let’s talk in our room okay?” Without words, the couple walked down the hall of the Winner Mansion; both wanted to relish these next few hours, for this was the last night they would share until ten years were over…
Crys went over to the bed and sat down. “Quatre…I just wanted to tell you…I’m not really sure I can leave…”
He sat beside her with confusion in his eyes. “What are you talking about Crys?”
She sighed and with tears in her eyes, stared at him. “I don’t want to leave…I want to stay here with you…I want our daughter to have a father watch her grow…I want us to be together Quatre.” She held on to him as if her life depended upon it. “I don’t want to wake up not seeing you beside me…not hearing your voice, it’ll kill me inside…I don’t think I’ll be able to bear it.”
Quatre smiled and held his loving wife close. “I don’t want you and Kristana to leave…but it’s for the good of humanity. We have no other choice…as much as I regret it, I have to watch you and my only daughter leave for ten years…” He held up her head and kissed away her tears. “I’ll be hurting as well, my love. But let’s not worry about it tonight…” He stared into her tear-stained eyes and smiled. “I just want to be with you and only you. No worries about the future, no nothing…I just want to be with you.”
Crys smiled; Quatre was always the more understanding one…he knew the consequences for marrying Peace and he fully accepted them. He wouldn’t be able to see his wife or daughter for ten years, and no matter how hard it would be for him or her, they would get through it.
“Okay.” She replied silently. “But–” He kissed her then and there; there would be no speaking tonight. He would show her all his love for her in one long, never ending night.
“I love you, Crystilline Winner.” He smiled, loving to hear her name come out his mouth.
She smiled back as she laid down. “And I love you, Quatre Winner. Forever and always.”
He joined her on the bed and before their lips met in a long, passionate kiss, he repeated her words.
“Forever and always.”
The moon was the only one who watched the two lovers that night, it’s glow brightened the room, creating shadows on the walls…yes, tonight was indeed special…and would stick in the wife and husband’s mind forever and always…
