Chapter Four
Chapter Four
Lightning Lord
A loud thump reverberated through the Winner manor as Quatre’s back hit the hard wall. Years of experience told him to let Heero do whatever he wanted when angered at this level. Those eyes that matched the ones that Quatre had fallen for were glaring daggers at him, promising instant death if the owner wasn’t appeased.
“What the HELL happened to my sister Winner!?”
He was calm despite the fact the Perfect Soldier had appeared after years of dormancy. Those around waited for the moment to act. Even after all these years, the group knew not to mess with Heero when his other persona arrived. The attempted assassination of his sister had driven the beast out…and it wanted blood.
“I don’t know, Heero.” Quatre replied. “But I am going to find out.” He frowned, his eyes just as intense as the man’s that nearly had a death grip around his throat. “I will not allow this to stand idly by.”
“Heero for godsakes calm down!” The specific party being fussed about was currently sitting on the couch, glaring at her twin. She refused to be let out of the conversation this time, though she was confined to remain seated. Bandages on her left shoulder were quite visible underneath her buttoned up shirt, the only type of shirt she could wear at the moment. “It’s not his fault I got shot!”
Crys’ angered pleas were unheard. “Winner if this ends up being one of your idiotic enemies so help me I am going to cut off every appendage you have!”
“Dully noted.” Quatre replied. “Now…Can we please calm down? It won’t help the matter at hand.”
Releasing his brother-in-law Heero went over to his sister, plopped right beside her on the couch. He wasn’t moving from his spot until he got answers.
Rubbing his throat from the sudden tension it had, Quatre sighed.
“I don’t think it’s any rival company…” He told the group at hand. “Before I received the news of the incident….I got a strange phone call.”
He explained to them the sudden feeling of dread, along with the man on the other line. Jennifer paled at what Quatre told them, her husband gently took her hand to comfort her.
Jessica raised an eyebrow after he finished his short tale.
Quatre instantly knew what she was thinking.
“It isn’t Dorothy, I assure you. I had that road check out beforehand.” He shook his head. “I have a feeling this was just a taste of things to come.”
An agreement from all.
“Whoever this is sure wants Crys dead for some reason or another.” Duo leaned against the wall. “If isn’t Dorothy…then who?”
Silence fell within their group. There was no telling who specifically wanted Crys dead. Why anyone would want the death of an innocent person was beyond them.
Heero moved, reached in his pocket to pull out his vibrating cell phone. Not recognizing the number he chose to let it slide, it would stop after a few seconds anyway.
When the buzzing continued well over into two minutes, Heero frowned; it was obvious someone was desperate to reach him.
Rolling his eyes he answered the call with a grumbled “What do you want?”
When his form turned ridged, all eyes went to him. Everyone watched as the Yuy male’s eyes hardened into thin slits, his free hand curling into a tight fist.
“Who the hell are you?” He demanded from the caller. He noticed Jessica’s hand signs, recognizing them instantly he pulled the phone away from his ear, turned it to speaker phone.
“That’s none of your concern, Lightning Lord.”
Quatre’s eyes widened in recognition of the voice. Nodding to the others, he pointed to the phone.
It was the same voice that had called him.
Staying silent the group listened.
“You damn well it’s my concern! Why do you want my sister dead!?” Heero shouted angrily at the voice.
“It is for the better. Deep down you know this. The Eastern Sun must return to her rightful place in the heavens. I implore you to not listen to your human emotions, Lightning Lord. Either kill the Eastern Sun or we will have no choice but to try again. I have already contacted the Southern Sun, one of you must kill her.”
This was strange…The voice didn’t sound like a murderer. Was the voice actually pleading Heero to kill his sister?
“If the deed is not done within three days, we of the Order will act. That is all the time I am able to give you.” There was a pause. “To those listening as well…Hear me…if you want your world to live on as it is, you must kill her. Otherwise, she will be the downfall of you all.”
Danie glared at the phone. “You bastard, you knew we were listening!”
The voice on the other line seemed unfazed by her heated voice. “Yes.”
“Tell us why you want to kill my sister dammit!!” Heero shouted.
A pause.
“Remember, three days.” Then the phone went dead.
