Chapter Seventeen

Chapter Seventeen
Decision

The Winners were silent, Heero long gone from the room to allow them privacy. Though the ever protective brother didn’t go too far; outside he stood like a sentry. No one was getting in without his approval.

Quatre wheeled himself close to his wife’s bed. He didn’t have to use his gift to know she was distraught, it was written all over her face.

“Heero said you knew.” Quatre took her hand in his for comfort.

Crys nodded, gave a gentle squeeze of thanks through their hands.

“Quatre…I think I met our son.” Their eyes met. “I can’t really explain it, but…somehow…I think I’ve met his soul…” Unshed tears formed in her eyes. “He’s terrified, Quatre…Terrified of some dark force.” She tore away from his curious eyes. “He wants me to abort him.”

The Winner male couldn’t stop the choke in his throat at her grim words. The dark force this child was scared of had to have been that strong life Quatre felt the first time. Silently he removed her hand from her stomach to place his there. The force had changed now…Now he felt light, innocence…almost as strong as his wife’s own inner light but it seemed to be wavering, like something was trying to push it away.

Kill me…please…hurry before…

The innocent life was pleading, almost begging. The strong life returned, engulfing the light in a silent scream.

Do not listen to my hikari, father. He is idiotic at best.

Quatre pulled away, his thoughts deep.

There was an inner struggle within the child…Seemed the child possessed two types of strengths: a light and a dark. Could this be the reason why the Maganacs didn’t want to destroy the child? Because he wasn’t all evil as the Order believed him to be?

“Quatre what happened?” His wife’s words stopped his train of thought. Smiling he grabbed her hand. He would not let her worry, not right now anyway.

“It’s nothing.” He stated but she caught his lie instantly.

“Quatre Winner, tell me what’s wrong with my child right now!” And she wasn’t taking no for an answer.

A shake of his head. “There’s nothing wrong with him…I think…he just needs guidance.” Their eyes met. “What do you want to do, Crys?”

He was asking her because technically it was her choice. The child was a part of her now, and Quatre couldn’t force her to do anything. This was her decision alone to make.

He watched as Crys once again placed her hand upon her stomach, trying to decide. Should she abort? Should she keep him?

“I don’t care what he says.” She looked at her husband with determination in her eyes. “He was conceived for a reason. I’ll not condemn him to death when he’s done nothing to cause such to happen. Besides…” She gave a gentle smile Quatre’s way. “He’s not evil…not if he’s willing to die to protect us.”

Accepting her decision, Quatre squeezed her hand. They would keep him, this child reared by their past lives.

The Winner male only hoped the child wouldn’t destroy their current lives in the process.
