Chapter Six
Of Gods and Mortals

They had three to find and trample this group called the Order before Crys ended up dead. The only people this weird group seemed to know were Quatre and Heero, yet the Order knew the two weren’t alone.

The family sat in the living room in the Winner Manor, the only place Quatre allowed Crys to go. She was never leaving the security of his house, no matter how much she protested.

Yet somehow, Crys didn’t seem to protest. During the whole conversation she appeared distant; even when Heero starting yelling for the third time that day she calmly sat in her seat silently.

“Crys? Are you alright?” Hearing her husband’s voice brought Crys out of her musings. His blue eyes suddenly turned to ruby as she looked at him, the dream still fresh in her mind.

Crys turned her head away from him instantly, kami she felt so wrong. “I’m fine…really…I’m just…” She shook her head. “It’s not important right now…” Crys mustered up a smile for her husband who was currently sitting on her left, her ever-protective brother was on her right. “Really…I’m okay, Quatre.”

Smiling, Quatre placed a cup of hot tea in her hands. “Drink this, it will help calm your nerves.”

Frowning at his twin’s sudden mood change, Heero crossed his arms. He would have to investigate further but right now her life was at stake.

“I couldn’t find a damn thing about this Order organization.” He stated. “Whoever they are can cover their tracks skillfully.”

“The guy really wanted you to know what’s going on, otherwise he would have given his point and be done with it.” Trowa raised an eyebrow. “What about all of these strange…code names he supposedly has given you?”

“They all sounded like mythical names to me.” Moira deduced. “So I went on a hunt on my own. I found a lot of information…apparently there are at least two very popular Lightening Lords in mythologies from the Norse gods to Shinto gods.”

Heero raised an eyebrow. “I’m assuming you went with Shinto…”

Moira nodded. “Fits the pattern actually…You and your sister are Japanese, makes only sense the Order would use Japanese code names.”

“So, who is the Lightning Lord?” Danie asked.

Moira’s eyes held a twinkle in them.

“Susanno, the Shinto god of lightening…and get this…” She turned her gaze towards the Yuy twins. “Susanno had a sister…”

Crys and Heero looked at one another, their minds in overdrive.

“It couldn’t be…Could it?” Crys asked her brother.

“Who else could it be?” Heero shrugged. Noticing their stares, Heero rolled his eyes in annoyance.

“Susanno’s sister is Amaterasu, the goddess of the Sun.”

Again a nod from Moira. “Yes, though their story is a bit…different from yours. Apparently Susanno didn’t like his sister at all because her children got chosen to become the Emperors of Japan.” She chuckled. “There’s a legend that states he got so mad one time he literary threw a flayed pony into her house.”

Pause.

“Geez…talk about sibling rivalry.” Duo pointed out.

“Okay, so what about Quatre’s name? Southern sun?” Jennifer asked. This was getting quite weird.

A shake of Mrs. Maxwell’s head. “That is where it gets strange.” She looked at the Winner in particular. “Your family is from Egypt yes?” Quatre nodded. “The only Southern Sun I could find was the Egyptian sun god, Amun-Ra.”

The crash brought everyone’s attention towards the sound. A broke cup sat on the floor, its contents spilled all over. The cup had slipped from the hands of Crys Winner.

She was shaking and she was scared.

The two men that were the most worried were on her in a second.

“Don’t worry…we’ll get this guy.” Heero told her.

Crys abruptly stood. “That’s not it!!”

Quatre stood, placed his hands on his wife’s shoulders for comfort.

“Please…what’s wrong?” He asked gently.

She wouldn’t speak for a minute as her head dropped.

“You…remember…That falling dream I had last night…?” She shook her head. “Quatre…I think…I think…”

“Please…tell me what’s upsetting you…”

“Quatre…I think…these people…this Order…” She looked at him. “They blame me.”

Her words surprised him greatly.

“Blame you…for what?”

“I don’t think these are code names, Quatre…” Blue met dark blue. “They ARE our names…From a different life.”

The room became silent.

“Wait a minute!” Wufei frowned. “This group calling themselves the Order believes you three are reincarnations of deities!?”

Crys glared at him. “You can’t FEEL things in a dream, Wufei! I felt everything!” Her shoulders slumpt as she turned away from her husband. “There’s more. I know why they want me dead.”  Her eyes closed as tears threatened to fall. “It’s my fault…” Her watery eyes fell on Quatre.

“It’s my fault you fell from grace!”

Crys ran, ran from shocked stares, concerned eyes. Cries from them were unheard as she rushed up the stairs, raced to the bedroom and shut the door tightly.

Quatre simply stood there, shock written on his face.

There wasn’t a word spoken.
